Ford Car Key Replacement Melbourne

Ford key replacement Melbourne — mobile service

We cut and program Ford keys at your car anywhere in Melbourne. That includes the 2022 onwards Next-Gen Ford Ranger and Ford Everest, which most mobile locksmiths cannot do. An older Falcon, Territory or Ranger takes a remote key from $169. We come to your home or work and program the key to the car while you wait. There is no need to tow the car or go to a dealer. Open seven days.

Next-Gen Ford Ranger and Everest keys (2022 onwards)

The 2022 onwards Next-Gen Ranger and Everest run Ford’s newest security system. The key cannot be programmed with the usual locksmith equipment. The car has to be connected to Ford’s own diagnostic system, FDRS, with a live security login to Ford, and the key has to be genuine. That is why most locksmiths will tell you to go to the dealer.

We run FDRS with full security access, the same system the dealer uses. We can make a spare key for a Next-Gen Ranger or Everest at your car, and we can do all keys lost at your car as well. You do not need to tow it anywhere. The key is genuine Ford and is programmed the same way the dealer would do it, without the wait for a booking.

Next-Gen Ford Ranger key replacement

Ranger XL, XLS, XLT, Sport, Wildtrak, Platinum and Raptor, 2022 onwards. Spare smart keys and all keys lost, done at your car through FDRS with a genuine Ford key. Quoted per car.

Next-Gen Ford Everest key replacement

Everest Ambiente, Trend, Sport, Wildtrak and Platinum, 2022 onwards. Same system, same job. Spare smart keys and all keys lost at your car. Quoted per car.

The same applies to the 2024 onwards Mustang and the newest Transit and Transit Custom. If your Ford is 2022 or newer, call us before you ring the dealer.

Ford keys by year

Ford’s immobiliser is called PATS. It has had three main versions in Australia, and the key job depends on which one your car has.

2002 to about 2015. Falcon BA, BF, FG and FG X. Territory SX, SY and SZ. Ranger PJ, PK and the first PX. Focus, Fiesta and Mondeo up to about 2015. All of these use a 4D transponder and program through the diagnostic port. A spare is simple. We clone the chip or program a new key to the car and pair the remote. All keys lost is simple too, except that PATS makes the car wait before it will accept new keys, so a lost-key job on a Falcon or Territory takes longer at the car than a spare does. It is still done on the spot. These are the cheapest Fords to key at $169 for a remote key.

2015 to 2022. Ranger PX2 and PX3, Everest, Mondeo MD, Mustang, Focus and Fiesta from about 2015, Escape and Kuga, Transit and Transit Custom. Ford moved to a newer encrypted chip. A spare is still programmed at the car, but the key is a dearer part, which is why a Ranger remote key is $200 and a Transit is $300. Push-button start came in on the Ranger Wildtrak, Everest and Mustang in these years, and those take a smart key. All keys lost on these cars needs security access to the car’s module and takes longer.

2022 onwards. Next-Gen Ranger and Everest, and the newest Mustang and Transit. See the section above. Genuine keys, programmed through FDRS, spare or all keys lost, at the car.

Ranger, specifically. The PX1 (2011 to 2015) is the easy one. 4D key, $200 for a remote key, lost keys done at the car with the PATS wait. The PX2 and PX3 (2015 to 2022) use the newer chip. Keyed-ignition models take a $200 remote key, the Wildtrak and other push-button models take a smart key. The Next-Gen (2022 onwards) is done through FDRS and quoted per car. Tell us the year and whether it has a key or a button and we can give you a price on the phone.

The Transit blue key. The 2006 to 2013 Transit came with a blue-headed key on a system that cannot be cloned the normal way. We can still do them, but it is quoted per car, which is why that row in the table says call for price.

Why some Ford keys aren’t priced on this page

The ones marked “call for price” are the Next-Gen Ranger and Everest, the Puma, the blue-key Transit and any car with all keys lost. The Next-Gen cars are done through Ford’s own system with a genuine key, so the key and the time both cost more than the table can show. The blue-key Transit cannot be cloned the normal way. On all of these we would rather give you the right price on the phone than put a figure here that turns out to be wrong.

These are also the jobs where experience counts. PATS has caught out plenty of people with the wrong equipment or the wrong key blank. We carry the equipment for every PATS version, including FDRS for the newest cars, and we have keyed thousands of Falcons, Territories and Rangers. We are rated 4.9 from 250+ Google reviews. Call 0421 113 736 and we will tell you the price, what is involved and when we can be there.

Lost all your Ford keys?

We can still come to you. On a 4D-era Ford, which is any Falcon, Territory, PX1 Ranger and the older Focus and Fiesta, we program new keys through the diagnostic port. The only catch is the PATS wait before the car accepts them. Allow longer than a spare. It is still done at the car and you drive it that day. On the 2015 to 2022 cars, lost keys need security access to the car’s module and take longer again. On the Next-Gen Ranger and Everest we do it through FDRS at the car with a genuine key. Most locksmiths cannot do this one at all. We confirm the price with you before we come out.

Do I have to go to a Ford dealer?

No, and that now includes the newest Fords. A dealer will want the car brought in and will fit a genuine key. We come to the car. On a Falcon, Territory or PX Ranger we fit a good aftermarket key at a lower price. On the Next-Gen Ranger and Everest we fit a genuine key through Ford’s own system, the same as the dealer, without the tow and the wait. Either way the key is programmed to your car and works the same as the original for locking, unlocking, the boot and starting.

Frequently asked questions

Can you make a key for a 2023 or 2024 Ford Ranger?

Yes. Spare keys and all keys lost, at your car. We run Ford’s FDRS system with full security access, which is what the Next-Gen Ranger needs. Very few mobile locksmiths have it.

Can you do a Next-Gen Ford Everest with all keys lost?

Yes. Same system as the Next-Gen Ranger. We connect the car to FDRS at your location and program a genuine Ford key. No tow, no dealer booking.

How much is a Ford Ranger key?

PX1 and keyed PX2 and PX3 (2011 to 2022) are $200 for a remote key spare. Push-button Wildtrak and similar take a smart key at $300. Next-Gen Ranger (2022 onwards) is a genuine key through FDRS, quoted per car.

How much is a Ford Falcon key?

$169 for a remote key on any Falcon from the BA (2002) to the last FG X (2016). All keys lost takes longer because of the PATS wait, but it is still one of the cheaper lost-key jobs.

How much is a Ford Territory key?

$169 for a remote key, SX, SY or SZ. The Territory is the Ford we are asked about most.

I have lost all the keys to my Falcon. Can you do it at my house?

Yes. The Falcon’s PATS system makes the car wait before it accepts new keys, so allow longer than a spare, but it is done at the car and you drive it that day.

Can you do a Ranger or Everest with push-button start?

Yes. 2015 to 2022 models take a smart key programmed at the car. The 2022 onwards Next-Gen models are done through FDRS with a genuine key.

My Ford key turns but the car will not start and the PATS light is flashing

The car is not recognising the key. Usually the chip in the key has failed, or the key was cut but never programmed. We can test the key at the car and program a new one.

Do you come to me?

Yes, we are fully mobile across Melbourne. Rangers and Territories make up a lot of our outer-east and south-east work, so we are often already nearby.

How long does a Ford key take?

A spare on a Falcon, Territory or PX Ranger usually takes under 30 minutes at the car. Smart keys and Next-Gen cars take longer. All keys lost adds the PATS wait on the older cars.

What do you need from me on the day?

For a spare key, just the car and your existing key. If all keys are lost we also need proof you own the car, such as registration papers or a licence matching the address.
