Why Toyota keys changed after 2013
Toyota moved to a much stronger encrypted system around 2013, and again for 2023 models. It’s why a 2008 Corolla and a 2020 one are different prices. Toyota stopped fitting keyed ignitions after 2023, so anything newer is a smart key. Most Corollas, HiLuxes and Camrys on the road are still the cheapest keys we cut.
